Wild animal tee shirts

I am learning to sketch a wild animal and transfer my drawing to a tee shirt.  I used special fabric markers to colour in my design.

Patterns to 5

I am learning to make and recognise patterns to 5.

" I can make a pattern to 5.  I know 2+3 =5" said Ethan

Reading out loud

We are learning to read out loud familiar poems. We are trying to read with fluency and expression. As we get more confident, we can pay attention to the author's punctuation to help our reading sound more interesting.

"I can sound out words I don't know when I read out loud. I can read loudly so everyone can hear" said Ethan

Wonderful writing

At writing time we are learning to experiment with new types of punctuation. We are starting to read our stories back and check we have fullstops and capital letters in the correct places and that it makes sense.
"I can do so many finger spaces and I know lots of words because I can robot now."

Three letter words.

I am learning to write a three letter word, listening to the beginning, middle and end sounds.  This will help me in my reading.

"I can  robot words to help me" said Ethan

Rocket ship

We have been learning about the solar system this term.  We made a rocket with paper and a straw then blew through the straw to see how far our rocket would travel.  

Phonics Time

Phonics lessons are a very important part of our Writing programme. In this photo I am learning to hear and record the middle sound in words. When I recognise the pattern, I can write lots of words.

" I do good work. I try write words."

Measuring Challenges

We were learning to compare similar objects that differ only in length. We were experimenting  with learning to measure with non-standard units.  We were learning to have an accurate starting and finishing point when we measure and use measuring language. 

" I am trying do counting for measuring."

High frequency words.

I am learning to read and write my high frequency words independently.

"I can read the words and write on white boards.  I can make the sounds."

Owl Babies

We are learning to publish our writing for an audience, because we are authors. In Room 3 we try to present our work in many different and interesting ways to                                      encourage people to come and read our fabulous stories!

I am learning to point to each word as I read in the right direction.

Numbers to 10

I am learning to recognise as well as read and write numbers to 10.  I am able to write all my numbers to 10 correctly.

" I know all my numbers to 10 except for number 10." said Ethan

Tread Lightly Caravan visit

The Tread lightly Caravan visit was teaching us that the environment is everything around us in nature and that the environment is really important for us to live (trees for oxygen, water to drink, plants for food etc.) so we need to look after it.

"I am growing plant for food to eat. I give water to grow."

Wiggly Worms

We were learning about our Worm farm and how to look after it. All the leftover fruit and vegetables in the worm bucket feeds the worms. 

Ethan said, " I touch the worms."
